Fly fishing is an intellectual sport. It requires absolute focus and concentration. Sometimes this required total focus makes you not realize the beautiful ambiance and surroundings that you are fishing in, so it is with great pleasure that I finally was videotaped while fly fishing. It is also a physical sport requiring hiking over rocks and boulders as well as through rapids. The intellectual part of this sport requires both the knowledge of entomology - the study of insects, and aquatic ecology river hydrology, or as fly-fishermen call it, “reading the river.” The goal of this is to trick the fish into biting the thread covered imitation insect on the water.
It is a sport that I pursued passionately since the age of 4 while growing up in Montana. I hope to pass this hobby on to my grandchildren.
